Buses

For those of you staying in city-centre hotels we recommend the Aircoach service which stops at many of the hotels. It is also convenient if you are coming straight to Trinity College from the Airport on Thursday (it stops at the front of Trinity College and also on Merrion Square, which is slightly closer to the Computer Science department). A return ticket is €10.

The Dublin Bus website gives timetables and fares as well as a route finder. An important thing to know is that most routes operate an "exact change only" policy so they only accept coins (not notes) and you will not be given change, just a ticket that can be redeemed for the overcharge at the Dublin Bus office on O'Connell Street.

Directions

The Computer Science department is in the O'Reilly Institute (ORI) at the North East end of College, near to the pedestrian entrance on Westland Row (marked "3" on the TCD Campus map).

From Outside the O'Reilly Institute

Go up the steps between the ORI and the Hamilton Building (see TCD East End map) and turn left into the ORI, then left again into the Computer Science Department. The Large Conference Room (LCR) is on your immediate right.

From O'Connell Street

Hotels: Gresham, Wynne's, Royal Dublin
Blue Route

Walk South and cross the river. Go left down D'Olier street, until you come to a junction with a standing stone. Bear left onto Pearse Street past the Garda Station and the junction with Tara Street until you come to the junction with Westland Row and Lombard Street East, with a Bank on the left. Turn right onto Westland Row and right again under the railway bridge into College.

From the Docklands/North East

Hotels: Custom House Jury's Inn, Clarion, Isaac's, North Star
Red Route

Cross the Talbot Bridge (to the East of the Custom House) and turn left. Walk along the Quay until you get to Lombard Street East: there is a large monument in the shape of an anchor at the corner. Turn right and keep going across two crossroads until you are under the railway bridge. Turn right into College.
