Requesting Certificates

Public Server Commands

* These commands are expected to work only in compatible browsers listed below!

Get CA Certificate  * This is only needed once per browser (when your browser doesn't have any Grid-Ireland certificates). When you click on this link, the Grid-Ireland CA certificate will be imported into your browser. Remember to select the 'Accept' options, but not the 'Warn' options.
 
Request User Certificate * Request a Grid-Ireland user certificate.
Note: the OU (organisational unit) must be specified as the DNS domain of your department, often the part of your email address after the @-sign. For example: cs.tcd.ie or it.nuigalway.ie.
 
Request Server or Service Certificate Request a Grid-Ireland host or service certificate.
Note: the OU (organisational unit) must be specified as the DNS domain of the host or service. For example: cs.tcd.ie or it.nuigalway.ie.
Requires a valid Grid-Ireland user certificate
 
List Certificate Requests List the outstanding requests (to the Grid-Ireland CA) for new certificates.
Requires a valid Grid-Ireland user certificate
 
List Certificate Revocations List the current Grid-Ireland certificate revocations.
Requires a valid Grid-Ireland user certificate
 
List Valid Certificates List all the valid certificates.
Requires a valid Grid-Ireland user certificate
 
Get Certificate Revocation List Get the current Grid-Ireland 'Certificate Revocation List' (CRL).
 
Get Requested Certificates Get the Grid-Ireland certificates you requested.
 
Revoke Your Certificate  * Revoke your Grid-Ireland certificate.

Compatible Browsers

To use the CA public server you need to run one of the following browsers:

These browsers are available for download from their websites. The Linux versions are included in some Linux distributions.

Mozilla

Redhat 9 and Fedora Core include a suitable version of Mozilla.

Debian users can install Mozilla (and the necessary Personal Security Manager components) with the command
apt-get install mozilla mozilla-psm

Mozilla Installer for Windows:

Netscape

Netscape RPMs for RedHat Linux versions 7.3 to 9, and Fedora Core 1:

Debian users can install Netscape with the command
apt-get install netscape
