Grid Events in Ireland in 2004The Irish Grid community will host a major international Grid Computing event in April 2004, timed to coincide with the Irish EU Presidency, within the Calender of Research Events of the Irish Presidency. 2nd EU eInfrastructures Event
The scheduled events begin with a policy-oriented meeting in the Royal
Irish Academy (RIA) in Dublin.
The RIA is Ireland's senior scientific society, beside the EU offices,
100 metres from Govt.buildings, which should encourage attendance by
top EU and Government civil servants.
There will be a one-day open workshop, eInfrastructures
(Internet and Grids) - The new foundation for
knowledge-based Societies, a high-level
in-depth discussion of internet, grid and related
governmental policy issues.
This will be followed by a one-day closed meeting, the eIRG (eInfrastructures Reflection Group), that will be attended by policy and funding
representatives from each of the EU states.

1st EGEE Conference
The inaugural conference for the EU Framework 6 grid project, EGEE (Enabling Grids
for E-Science in Europe) will be held in Ireland.
EGEE is the primary FP6 grid project, with 70 partners including partners in Russia and the US.
It is estimated that 200-300 delegates will attend. This will be a working conference
for EGEE, with webcasting of selected plenary sessions,
industry participation and a public lecture.
It will be a highly visible event.
Those involved are charged with establishing the future pan-European grid infrastructure,
not sometime in the distant future, but within the next two years. In Ireland, UCC and DIAS are joint organizers, liasing with the EGEE organizers in TERENA.
The event will bring together researchers and industry.
MarineGrid 2004MarineGrid is holding their first conference. Those involved are conducting science research on the national seabed survey. The event will bring together approximately 30 researches, from NUIG and UCD. See MarineGrid 2004 CosmoGrid 2004CosmoGrid is holding their first conference. Those involved are conducting science research on problems in natural physics platform that appear suited for execution on grids. The event will bring together approximately 60 researches, from DIAS, UCD, NUIG, DCU, TCD, UCC, Armagh Observatory and Met Eireann. See CosmoGrid 2004 WebCom-G 2004WebCom-G is holding their first conference. Those involved are conducting research into a new execution platform for grids, based on a non-von-Neumann architecture. The event will bring together approximately 40 researches, from TCD, UCC and NUIG, who are working on the WebCom-G project. See WebCom-G 2004
