Grid-Ireland gateways for 10 new grid sites
January 25 2005 17:55:52. Posted by Brian Coghlan

In collaboration with HEAnet, Grid-Ireland has announced ten new sites to which the grid gateways donated by Dell Ireland Limited in April 2004 will be deployed, subject to contract.

Grid-Ireland currently encompasses six sites, at TCD, UCC, NUIG, DIAS, UCD and QUB, with an Operations Centre in TCD, and now aims to make Grid services accessible to additional Irish third-level institutions. Dell Ireland Limited has kindly donated the necessary hardware systems, which are known as grid gateways. Grid-Ireland has specified these gateways to ensure minimal divergence from standard site configuration, minimal hardware and space costs per site, and minimal personnel costs per site. In collaboration with HEAnet, Grid-Ireland has identified ten new sites to which the gateways will be deployed subject to contract. These are:

Dublin City University
University of Limerick
National University of Ireland, Maynooth
Royal College of Surgeons, Ireland
Waterford Institute of Technology
Institute of Technology, Tralee
Athlone Institute of Technology
Institute of Technology, Carlow
Dublin Institute of Technology
Institute of Technology, Tallaght
Once the contract is signed, the grid gateways will be deployed at a mutually agreed time over the next two months. Our thanks to Dell Ireland Limited for their generosity and support.
